New Car Protection

A common question I get asked; “Is it worth getting my new car detailed?” - I wrote a blog on this subject after the 60 reg was released last September, take a look here for further reading.

Fast forward 6 months and we are less than 24hrs away from the eagerly anticipated 21 reg, so I wanted to expand on my previous article, and delve into the various protection options now available for new cars.

Let’s start with Paint Protection Film (PPF).

Today’s automotive surfaces are more complex and more susceptible to damage than ever before. Paint is more prone to chipping, due to the more advanced aerodynamics and designs and the modern car is now much larger than its predecessor – whilst parking spaces are smaller.

Environmental elements, road surface deterioration and debris means your vehicle is under constant attack – PPF helps keep your vehicle in that showroom condition by providing a virtually invisible barrier minimizing stone chips, protecting from minor abrasions, bug stains and ultimately protecting your investment whilst helping to maintain the resale value of your vehicle. Our Premium Shield Elite SH film also has the added benefit of self healing abilities, and unlike other brands will actually heal at room temperature, which gives the end user added piece of mind that your car will always look its best. We install such film to the high impact areas, typically the front bumper, wings, bonnet, and mirror backs - this is classed as a full front kit. On occasion, we have also completed full car installations, which is the de facto number one way to protect your paintwork; if you’ve got a rare, or special edition car, this level of protection is the best investment you can make.

The installation of PPF requires a dedicated environment, and all of our films are cut to size using the latest patterns to ensure the perfect fit. Once installed, the film is near invisible, and offers the best optical clarity and gloss, which is further boosted and protected using the latest Labocosmetica HPC ceramic coating. This not only protects the film, but also increases hydrophobicity, and helps make routine maintenance an effortless task.

The next paintwork protection option we have is the application of a ceramic coating. We wrote a blog on these last year, which can be found here. Ceramic coatings are a more cost efficient way of protecting your paintwork than PPF, and are far more advanced than regular polymer sealants and waxes. Applied to the whole paintwork, they offer a great level of protection against bird lime, acid etching, water marks, minor scratches, and general wash damage. They can also be applied to your wheels and glass, giving your exterior total surface protection.

In addition to a full front PPF kit installation - this Taycan had the rest of the car ceramic coated.

The combination of PPF and ceramic coatings serve as a great protection package, which offers the best value for money. The PPF installed on the high impact areas helps protect against stone chips, and the ceramic coating protects the front doors back, which usually don’t see as much wear as the front end of the car.

So where does that leave you with your new 21 reg car? Hopefully you can make an informed decision based on this article - our list of Detailing Services can be found here, and our Paint Protection Film services can be found here.
